These were The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, and Merchant of Venice. In the version of the book I read, there were four short stories. At the end of this review I will leave a link to the source I used for reading this book. The Lamb’s use of language was easier to read than Shakespeare’s, but probably not easy enough for 10-year-olds. ![]() That being said, I still don’t think many children aged 8-12 could have fully understood the stories. ![]() Their use of language was easier to read than Shakespeare’s. Charles and Mary Lamb were trying to make the stories easier to read for children or young teenagers. Without all of Shakespeare’s language the stories had nothing going for them. The problem is that these unbelievable stories were retold without using all of Shakespeare’s powerful language. The plots of the stories in this book are the same as they were when Shakespeare wrote them. ![]() The plots of the stories within the book are illogical. I don’t recommend that you read Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. ![]()
