The way he let people talk about her was awful too. NOT! What a jerk! I just couldn't buy into it at all. Poor Ida deserved better and I felt so bad for her when he was talking about taking a wife, but he would still keep her as his mistress. I really loathed this guy for like 80% of the book and at the end, I just didn't hate him as much.
